According to the 2020 State of Vacation Timeshare Industry US Study as conducted by Ernst & Young and supported by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), 2019 was the tenth straight year of increased sales. 2019 was up 3% over 2018 representing $10.5 billion in total sales. The average sale of a timeshare is $22,942, there are 1,582 US resorts with a total of 206,380 units. Timeshares have a 79.3% occupancy rate versus a 66.1% hotel occupancy rate. Two-bedroom units make up 61% of all timeshares, 23% are one-bedroom units, 7% are studio units, and three-bedroom units make up 9% of all timeshares. Domestic ownership in the USA stands at 88% and International ownership sits at 12%. Be prepared, because after ten straight years of growth, 2020 will likely show a significant decline based on the advent of Coronavirus Pandemic that has struck the entire planet. However, predictions are to be prepared for a swift recovery in 2021.
